Back to School

Hello everyone! As many of you know, it has recently been “back-to-school” time for children all over the world. Many of VisionTrust’ supporters and child-sponsors have given extra donations these past months to help us provide school supplies to all of our projects. Below is a report from Nelson, the director of our projects in the Dominican Republic, about the blessing that these school supplies have been to our children. Enjoy this testimony of God’s provision!

“The last two weeks have been very exciting for the Dominican children under VisionTrust programs. 4 of our projects received a special donation early in August, the reason for those funds were to buy school supplies for the children in their particular programs.

One of our after-school tutoring programs, Brisas del Este, ministers to very poor children who attend public school in the morning, and then meet in our after school program for Bible class, homework, food and games. It was a wonderful blessing that last week all of them (135 children) received a back-pack with notebooks, pen, pencil, and a set of uniforms. Some of the neediest children also received a pair of jeans, skirt, shoes, etc. Esther, Keila and the rest of the staff there had a very busy week going to the stores and carrying back to that remote area all those sacks of clothing and school supplies. For the parents it was again a surprise to receive such a wonderful help for their children’s education. The fact that their children have all they need to go to school it is a blessing they can’t describe, this is what we call in VisionTrust, the power to change the world” .

For the project of Remar Orphanage, being that those children 100% under their care, they have to provide for those children to get a good education. They have their own school for all the orphans they work with. The Director, Sully’s surprise was big when she saw not only the regular monthly donation this August, but also extra funds for the schools supplies. What a joy that was for those people.

Peggy at the Deaf Ministry School called me one morning last week on my cell phone, she went to the bank and was very confused. Her question was something like: I think you made a mistake, I have two deposits for this month in our account ?. Imagine her surprise as I told her that those funds were for her program to help her children with school supplies. Then the joy of those children when she shared the news. God is so good. I believe this is the best work ever.!

Lastly, there is the wonderful miracle that happened in Herrera and Sabana Perdida. Paulina, the principal of Sabana Perdida, have some friends at the ministry of education of the country and got donated all the books from pre-primary to 10th grade for all the students and all the subject, we are talking of over 2,000 books! In the same package she got some extra pre-school books that we will be able to distribute between our other pre-school projects. Praise the Lord for Paulina and her contacts!

God has been good to the children in the Dominican Republic, VTI is giving them the tools to develop into mature educated Christian man and women for the future. “

Blessings,

Nelson
